About the Role
We are currently seeking a Front Office Duty Manager to join our pre-opening team at Manhattan Grand Hotel. This role holds overall responsibility for the smooth running of hotel operations during assigned shifts, acting as the senior point of authority and guest contact when hotel leadership is off-site, while ensuring the Front Office team consistently delivers service that reflects the hotel's brand promise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the senior Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts, holding overall responsibility for hotel operations, guest experience, and colleague conduct.
- Oversee Front Office, Concierge, and Guest Services operations, ensuring efficient check-in, check-out, and guest handling at all times.
- Handle escalated guest complaints, service recovery, and complex requests with professionalism, discretion, and full ownership.
- Lead the response to operational emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, security concerns, and evacuations, in line with Hotel emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular property walks across guest and public areas to ensure brand, safety, and presentation standards are upheld.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally with Housekeeping, Security, Engineering, and F&B to resolve operational issues in real time.
- Review and authorise Front Office transactions, rate overrides, discrepancies, and billing exceptions within delegated authority limits.
- Supervise, coach, and support Front Office and Duty team colleagues, ensuring adequate coverage and performance standards during each shift.
- Prepare shift handover reports and communicate significant incidents, VIP movements, and operational matters to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with the Hotel's brand standards, health and safety regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures at all times.
About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a Front Office or Duty Management role, preferably within an upscale or luxury hospitality environment, with prior pre-opening experience considered an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Front Office operations, hotel-wide service standards, and crisis/emergency management procedures.
- Proven leadership ability, with experience managing multi-departmental teams during live operations.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and authoritative under pressure.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and guest-recovery skills.
- Working knowledge of Opera PMS or similar property management systems.
- Sound understanding of hotel financial controls, billing procedures, and authorisation limits.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, with availability to act as Manager-on-Duty as required.
