About the Role

We are currently seeking a Steward to join our pre-opening team at Manhattan Grand Hotel. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and operational readiness of the kitchen, ensuring the culinary team can consistently deliver excellence in a safe and well-organised environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash, sanitise, and store kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, and cookware to the Hotel's hygiene standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, equipment, and work surfaces throughout and after service.
  • Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the proper handling, sorting, and disposal of waste and recyclables in accordance with Hotel procedures.
  • Support kitchen colleagues by ensuring timely availability of clean equipment and utensils during service.
  • Assist with the receiving, unpacking, and storage of kitchen deliveries and supplies as directed.
  • Report any equipment damage, malfunction, or maintenance needs promptly to the Chief Steward.
  • Ensure the correct use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with HACCP principles and Hotel policy.
  • Ensure compliance with the Hotel's brand standards, health and safety regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures.

About You

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Steward or Kitchen Porter, preferably within an upscale or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices.
  • Good physical stamina, with the ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during high-volume service periods.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior stewarding and culinary colleagues.
  • Basic communication skills in English sufficient for reporting and coordination.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
