About the Role
We are currently seeking an AC/HVAC Technician to join our pre-opening team at Manhattan Grand Hotel. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and ventilation systems throughout the hotel, ensuring guest and colleague comfort through consistent, energy-efficient climate control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC units, chillers, air handling units, and ductwork.
- Respond promptly to HVAC breakdowns, guest room comfort issues, and emergency call-outs, minimising disruption to guests and operations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related faults in HVAC systems.
- Monitor system performance to support energy efficiency and optimal climate control throughout the hotel.
- Read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair work.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of refrigerants in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Supervisor and Chief Engineer on project work, renovations, and specialised installations.
- Ensure compliance with the Hotel's brand standards, health and safety regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures.
About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as an AC/HVAC Technician, preferably within a hotel, resort, or commercial facilities environment.
- Recognised trade qualification or certification in HVAC/Refrigeration Engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, including refrigerant handling regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with chillers, air handling units, and building management systems will be considered an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to work at height and in confined spaces as required.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and respond to emergency call-outs as required.
