About the Role
We are currently seeking a Kitchen and Laundry Technician to join our pre-opening team at Manhattan Grand Hotel. This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of kitchen and laundry equipment across the hotel, ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the equipment that supports our culinary and housekeeping teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair kitchen equipment, including ovens, ranges, refrigeration units, dishwashers, and food preparation machinery.
- Install, maintain, and repair laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, ironers, and pressing machines.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimise equipment downtime and extend operational lifespan.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns in kitchen and laundry areas, minimising disruption to culinary and housekeeping operations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and gas-related faults in kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Ensure safe handling and compliance procedures for gas-powered equipment, refrigerants, and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics to guide repair and maintenance work.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and spare parts usage.
- Coordinate with the Executive Chef, Laundry Supervisor, and Engineering Supervisor to schedule maintenance with minimal operational impact.
- Liaise with external contractors and equipment suppliers for specialised repairs, servicing, and warranty work as required.
- Ensure compliance with the Hotel's brand standards, health and safety regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures.
About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Kitchen and/or Laundry Equipment Technician, preferably within a hotel, resort, or commercial facilities environment.
- Recognised trade qualification or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, including gas, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Experience with commercial refrigeration and gas safety procedures will be considered an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to work in confined spaces and lift equipment as required.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and respond to emergency call-outs as required.
